Sometimes things don’t work out as you had hoped for. Since I just missed out on EC points for SG I wasn’t able to join ParaSkiNL on the speed races in January. Decided to take a detour and make my own solo program to be able to race and train while the team was on the race trip.
January started with an EC in Veysonnaz, Switzerland. The Swiss paralympic ski team adopted me during these training and race days. Grateful for there help. Unfortunately there weren’t enough girls at the first races, so points don’t count, but had a good feeling overall. Especially the Super G was a lot of fun!
For the second time my plans took an unexpected change. Met the Australian development team with coach Chris McNight in Veysonnaz and they were happy to take over adoption from the Swiss. Yeah! This means a lot of training in Austria till the end of february. And every moment on snow will make me a better skier, so I am absolutely thrilled to join this amazing team.
Unfortunately there was also less positive news. I was nominated to race at the World Champs at Slalom and Giant Slalom the end of january in Tarvisio, but the federation decided I wasn’t ready for it yet. Disappointed of course, especially knowing that it’s 1 out of 6 qualification moments for next years games in PyeongChang. But, you know what, I will just work my ass off, train as much and hard as I can and come back stronger as ever!
There’s more to come as the season isn’t over yet!
